Data we collect

FolioCrest does not require an account and does not send the developer your holdings, transactions, manually entered prices, device identifiers, or usage activity. The app contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDK.

Local storage

Information entered in the app is stored in the app's local container on the user's device. The primary portfolio file uses Apple's complete file-protection class and is unavailable while the device is locked. FolioCrest also covers its financial interface when the app becomes inactive so the system app-switcher snapshot does not show portfolio details. Depending on the user's iOS and iCloud backup settings, Apple may include local information in a device backup. Removing the app or using the in-app delete control removes the current on-device copy, but does not delete files the user previously exported or existing device backups.

App lock and device authentication

If the user enables App Lock, FolioCrest uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework to request Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode authentication. Biometric information is processed by the device and operating system. The app does not receive or store face or fingerprint data; it receives only the authentication result.

Optional private iCloud sync

iCloud sync is off by default. If enabled, FolioCrest stores a complete encrypted copy in the CloudKit private database associated with the current Apple ID. Apple isolates each user's private database. The developer cannot browse the user's asset contents in the CloudKit console. Synced data uses the user's iCloud storage and is available only to devices signed in with the same Apple ID.

If the Apple ID changes, FolioCrest pauses sync without uploading or replacing data and requires the user to choose the local or current iCloud copy. It also pauses when both copies changed since their last common version. Disabling sync stops future synchronization but does not automatically delete an existing iCloud copy. Clearing all local data while sync remains enabled synchronizes the empty state to that Apple ID's private database.

Local notifications

The app requests notification permission only after the user chooses to enable a record-check reminder. Reminders are scheduled on the device. The app does not register for remote push notifications, and reminder text does not include portfolio values, holdings, or gains and losses. Reminders are optional and can be disabled without limiting other app features.

Home Screen widget

To display the optional Home Screen widget, the app stores a minimized summary in an Apple App Group container on the same device. The summary contains the portfolio name, total value, cost basis, category totals, recent value snapshots, and symbols and values for up to four leading holdings. It does not include transaction notes or complete transaction records, and it is not sent to the developer or another service.

Widget information can be visible to people near an unlocked device. The app includes a setting that replaces monetary values in the widget with dots. Apple's system privacy behavior may also redact widget content while the device is locked.

User-initiated imports and exports

The app can create JSON, CSV, and PDF exports at the user's request. Apple's system file or sharing interface sends a copy only to the destination selected by the user. After an export leaves the app, its storage and handling are controlled by the user and the selected destination. JSON restore reads only a file the user selects through the system file interface and asks for confirmation before replacing current records.

Data-health checks and PDF reports are generated on the device from information entered by the user. They are not transmitted to the developer.

Network and third-party services

This version does not connect to a brokerage, exchange, market-data provider, or developer-operated server. If the user enables iCloud sync, the app uses Apple CloudKit to transmit the private synchronized copy described above. Apple may process App Store downloads, purchases, iCloud storage, and diagnostic information under Apple's own policies; those activities are not controlled by FolioCrest.

Changes and contact

If a future version adds other networking, data collection, analytics, ads, or third-party services, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before release. Questions can be sent to stillsum@proton.me.
